Hello to all,

I have Suse 9.1Pro installed on a PC at my work (and at home). The problem is that I turned off the PC on friday and I came today to turn it on and I found it stacked just before the turn off procedure finised. Now every time I boot the system I get en error: kdeinit failed. I must say that after I press ok the kde is up and running and the only changes I can see are the fonts (imagine if this was a windows instalation, windows wouldn't start and a format would be the only thing to do). Does any body have an idea of the crash? I must say again that there is no other problem and kde works fine, the only problem is that kdeinit fails to start!!!

Try starting kdeinit by hand from command terminal once gui is running. You might fix its a lock file or something stopping it.

Accually everything goes well:

lxuser@linux:~> kdeinit
kdeinit: Shutting down running client.
It looks like dcopserver is already running. If you are sure
that it is not already running, remove /home/lxuser/.DCOPserver_linux__0
and start dcopserver again.

KDE Daemon (kded) already running.
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca
lxuser@linux:~> su
linux:/home/lxuser # rm .DCOPserver_linux__0
linux:/home/lxuser # exit
lxuser@linux:~> dcopserver

Every time I turn off my PC I get a crush of knotify. I unistalled the pagages involved (kdebase3 and kdelibs3 and installed then again using windowmaker as a graphic interfase but still got the problem, I even unistalled all of kde and reinstalled it but nothing)

Thanks for your time
