Hi all,
I would like to use an old PC as firewall and, hopefully as proxy.

Is there someone who knows:
- Linux (w/out X) booting from a CD (and running  also from CD)
- saving the scripts on a floppy
- using USB ram for saving data (x proxy)
- use no HD (the system must be always on and so
must be very "low consumption" and therefore w/out
  HD and Monitor)

You might might to look over http://leaf.sourceforge.net/ ... this seems to be something similar to what you are asking for.  Also google for Shorewall.
