At my school, a business school catering to MBA's, we call the Linux
people DORKS.

Last year they had what they called "Linux Day"

It was a freaking pisser!

All these dorks walking around with signs and obviously over geeked
dress (even they don't dress that bad) along with more than one Gates
imitator.

They hired some filthy water dog cart and gave away free hotdogs and
beer, which was all Coors Light and some awful German Lager whose name
escapes me. Wernerstein or something like that.

Tasted like shit.

They were trying to get people to load Fedora Linux on their laptops
and some went for the bait but most people just watched and cordially
accepted the free knoppix CD's they handed out.

The garbage can was full with them the next day.

Bottom line was many students not only ended up with food poisoning
from the filthy water dog vendor but they walked away with laptops that
wouldn't even boot!

Seeing as this was at mid-term time, you can safely assume there were
more than a few pissed off, or actually pissed on, students.

(pissed on you say? So tell me where does a filthy water dog vendor
take a leak? Better yet, where does he wash his hands?
Bet you never thought of that one when you last purchased dogs from the
local cart)

Needless to say, the word LINUX on MY campus has it's own special
meaning.

It stands for shit...

IOW "I have to take a Linux"
or

"Did you see that huge "Linux" in stall 2?
Someone must be really sick!"

I can't wait for Linux day this year.

I'm going to hand out bottles of Kaopectate..

The Philosophy Club was thinking of bringing enema bags along with
signs that read:

Why use Linux, when you can do it yourself!!!

Linux is just so much fun!

And what do they call the business students who are buying MSFT while the
insiders are selling it by the millions of shares?

I would call them /paupers/ ...

Any OS - Linux, Microsoft, MacOSX has its place, depending on means and
purpose. One size does not fit all, not to mention taste (pun intended)!

Working in a fortune 5K company, we see a clear distinction laid down based
on functionality, with respect to OS.  While most of the enterprise
applications run on Linux (small), Solaris (medium), or IBM/HP (massive),
all of the inidividual desktops and laptops are mandated to use Windows XX -
there is no way you can even log into the corp VPN without having WinXX for
your emails and stuff! What does that tell you? Apart from the diatribe
above about hygiene in some food festival, it is important to realize the
role of technology in its best niche - which, I think, is very important
part of any MBA program.

Bottoms up...
SB

This is all part of the resurgent micoshaft get the facts wrong campaign
employing astroturds to post cut and pasted lies.

Its so funny watching micoshaft windopes trying it on donating
their free time free of charge to micoshaft attacking
free software, and making themselves poorer while the micoshaft executives
are laughing all the way to the bank!!

Its not enough to persuade me that I pay $300 for micoshaft
products when I can buy a PC for $200 and get GNU/Linux on it
and use it with products like OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org
that is a better product with better interoperability that failed microshaft
products. I loath microshaftees coming to me to get sign off for
POs that ask me to pay out of my budget money for microshaft software
when they should be downloading free software and do with they got
instead of creating work for me.
I can try some 300 liveCDs and choose the better distros that
are customised to office productivity, server or repairs and upgrade.
And it don't cost me purchase orders - I just get online and
download in an hour over 2Mb link any one of these CDs, and I'm away!

With windopes, you have lost days just getting all the sign offs.
Why bother when you can get on with it the same day with liveCDs?

Distros like Quantian are unmatched by anything that
windopes offer for education. It has xmaxima for example
that can algebraically solve maths equations.

On Sunday 28 August 2005 19:33, Morris stood up and spew lots of drivel
to the masses...  Just as he had done before using other nicks and
e-mail addresses.

I presume you regularly taste excretion then?  Personally I wouldn't
know what that tastes like, but I'm willing to take your word for it.
Well, that's the only thing I take your word for, actually...

[grin]

[snip rest of drivel]

You know, you're not just trolling anymore.  Changing e-mail addresses
and nicks all the time in order to avoid the /kill-files/ can be seen
as harassment or even stalking.

Either way, you can pride yourself in the number of filters I have on
you.  Into the loony bin with you... again! [grin]

1) if you don't care for Linux you certainly don't have to use it. Linux
is all about CHOICE - which, by the way, we would not have if MS was
really in charge.

2) I did a guest lecture spot and talked about Linux at the College of
Technology at the local university this spring, and was very well
received. The instructors and students asked very thoughtful questions and
we talked about the state of things. The instructors were glad to see me
there because they have to spend almost all of the curriculum time
teaching about all the quirks and shortcomings of MS which, as we all
know, is the dominant species. I received a large number of positive
comments about their brief exposure to Open Source.

Didn't we see this exact post yesterday?

Does anyone else find it intersting that this exact same post was used as

was atttributed to someone calling himself "The Homo K"? Curiouser and
