Serial ATA support?
Subject: Serial ATA support?

Does SuSe 8.1 support serial ATA drives? I've just built a new PC with 2
x SATA drives, and can't get Suse to install. Anyone else experienced
this?

TIA

Kenchie.

This sounds very strange. SATA is designed to be completely transparently.
However, your SATA controller might not be recognized by SuSe. Are you
really sure that your hardware is OK? You might check whether you can boot
a KNOPPIX cdrom.

TIA

Kenchie.

I just had the same problem with my SATA drive & SuSE Pro 8.2.  I
found the answer on my mobo, Intel, website.  Had to change the
IDE/drive config BIOS setting to "legacy mode".  Now my SATA drive
works fine.

Good luck.
K.
