Red Hat Fedora Core 2

df shows my / file system as full:

   [root@DEV-01 /]# df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
   /dev/sda3             33G   31G   49M 100% /
   /dev/sda1             122M   14M  102M  12% /boot
   none                     502M     0  502M   0% /dev/shm
   /dev/sdb1             34G   33M   32G   1% /disk2

but if I run I run du / -c -h, (-c is to give a total at the end, -h to specify units) the total at the end of the display is:

   8.9G    /
   8.9G    total

So, there’s only about 9G in use under /.  Where’s the missing 22G?  I understand du only gives an estimate, but can it be off that much?

Thanks,
Revtim

OK, there was an indexing problem on the disk I guess, after a reboot it's all consistant.
